Time Offset Definition
A time offset allows you
to add or subtract hours from the time assigned to your employees' punches.
By default all
punches are assigned the system time of the server that hosts the voice
interface system. This server uses Mountain Standard Time. Time offsets
allow you to set up the system to automatically edit your employees' punch
times so that they are correct based on the time zone in which they are
located.
The Phone Nexus system
uses two types of time offsets, "Company Offset" and "Employee
Offsets."
Company Offset
The company offset is the global offset
that will be applied to all new employees. It is used to edit your employees'
punches to the correct time based on where your company is located.
Example:
If your company is located in the Pacific Time Zone, which is one hour
behind Mountain Standard Time, a "-1" would be entered as the
offset in the company section of the system setup. If your company is
located in the Eastern Time Zone, which is 2 hours ahead of Mountain Standard
Time, a "2" would be entered as the company offset.
Employee Offsets
Employee offsets override the default company
offset and are used to edit your employees' punch times based on the time
zone in which they were located when the punch was created.
Example:
A company is located in the Mountain Standard Time Zone. An employee in
the Pacific Time Zone, which is one hour behind Mountain Standard Time,
uses the phone punch system to clock in and out. The offset for this employee
would be set to "-1."
Important Note on Daylight Savings:
The Phone Nexus system
will not take into account areas that do
not use Daylight Savings Time. The time on the server that hosts
the voice interface system will change according to Daylight Savings.
Areas not on Daylight Savings
must use the Company Offset to account for the change in time.
